Who we are
RetailJapan (www.retailjapan.com) is operated by Psilligence Pte Ltd, a company registered in Singapore. Psilligence Pte Ltd is the data controller for personal information collected through this site. For questions about this policy or your information, email support@retailjapan.com or use our contact page.
RetailJapan’s dashboards, data and market guides are free to read without an account. We only receive personal information from you if you choose to register, sign in with Google or contact us.
What we collect
- If you register with your email: your first and last name, email address, the company or organisation you work for, and a password. The password is stored only as an encrypted hash that we cannot read. We also record when you accepted our Terms of Service.
- If you sign in with Google: your name, email address and a Google account identifier, which Google shares with us when you choose to sign in. We do not receive your Google password or any access to your Google account.
- When you use your account: when you log in, and your account type.
- When you contact us: your name, email address and whatever you write to us.
- Automatically: our hosting provider keeps standard server logs of IP address, browser type and the pages requested. When you register, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are a person rather than a bot.
We do not collect payment information. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers on this site. Please do not send us special-category information such as health details or political opinions.
How we use it, and why

We do not send marketing emails. If we introduce them, they will be optional and sent only to people who opt in.
Services that process information for us
We use a small number of service providers. We do not sell your personal information or share it for anyone else’s marketing. We may disclose information where the law requires it.

We also use Google Search Console to see how our pages appear in Google search results. It reports totals from Google Search and does not track visitors on this site.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies, which the site needs to work:
- Login cookies keep you signed in. They last two days, or two weeks if you tick “Remember me”, and are removed when you log out.
- A test cookie on the login page checks that your browser accepts cookies. It lasts only for your visit.
- Preference cookies remember display settings for logged-in users, for about a year.
We do not use analytics or advertising cookies, and nothing on this site tracks you across other websites. Cloudflare Turnstile does not set tracking cookies. If you sign in with Google, Google may set its own cookies on its sign-in pages, under Google’s privacy policy.
Where your information is held
Psilligence Pte Ltd is based in Singapore, and the website is hosted in the United States. Some of the services listed above operate in other countries. When personal information is transferred between countries, we rely on safeguards such as the standard contractual clauses our providers offer, or on the transfer being necessary to provide the service you asked for.
How long we keep it
- Account information: while your account is open. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
- Server logs: for a short period, for security.
- Messages you send us: for as long as we need to deal with your enquiry.
- Records required by law: for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or stop using it. You can view and edit most of your details yourself on your My Account page. To exercise any of these rights, email support@retailjapan.com; we aim to reply within one month. You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Commission or the authority in your own country.
Children
RetailJapan is a professional service and is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top.
