Aeon Topvalu to hit 1.2 trillion JPY

Aeon‘s TopValu brand has found new success amid inflation concerns. Sales for the range are expected to reach about 1.2 trillion JPY in FY2025, up 11% year-on-year, with the cheapest sub-range, the “Best Price” line, leading growth as households trade down. Although many households are loyal to established brands, shoppers at Aeon are increasingly trading down to more generic Topvalu alternatives at lower price points, including new frozen lines and basics such as mayonnaise. Topvalu sales should also help Aeon’s bottom line by providing higher margins, but we’ll see for sure once the latest accounts become available. The trick will be whether consumers stick to the private-brand option once prices stabilise, or return to tried-and-trusted national brands they see as higher quality.
